Guatemala's Political and Governmental instability.
Lets take a good look at Guatemalan Government's latest events. No more than two weeks ago, we were stunned to hear Juan L. Florido was leaving his position as Prosecutor for the Public Ministry. We also face the low media coverage on constant changes in the Ministry of Defense, Carolina Roca's resignation as Superintendent of Tax Administration, rumors about Jeronimo Lancerio, Minister of Culture and Sports, leaving his office and similar but less public rumors about Luis Ferraté, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources. On top of this we find ourselves overwhelmed by the truly messy scandal behind the governments "misplaced" Q82,000,000.00, situation that has involved Congress and has gravely discredited Congress President Eduardo Meyer. Let's also not forget the day to day problems rural municipalities are having in terms of budget credibility, especially after their own scandals involving Christa Castañeda Torres, daughter of Gloria Torres, who in turn is the main link between the executive branch and the municipalities as well as Sandra Torre's, first lady, sister. All of these situations indicate Guatemala's Governmental instability, a state that does not permit governance.
What is governance? According to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy on governance: The art or way of governing that aims to achieve sustainable economic, social and institutional stability, promoting a healthy balance between government, civil society and market economy.
How can we think about the stability of governance in Guatemala, if there isn't stability even among the powers managed by the same device? Empty executive decision-making without a self-sustaining and coordinated vision? A legislative body that has proven to be corrupt and lacking a political strategy for the development of those who have been forgotten?. We have been forgotten, we are not being properly represented. The judiciary branch has not demonstrated an efficient administration or the adequate resources to operate Guatemala's imperative need for Justice. And finally, many municipal governments are managing millionaire budgets to their taste and whim, without any monitoring.

How can we expect the government to coordinate the economic, social and institutional stability for the rest of Guatemalans if we, Guatemalans, have no Idea of the nature and form of the problems? And, How can it be expected that Guatemalans who do have an idea of the problems, not ask for transparency, austerity and smaller government? We need to secure our citizens' civil rights, we need true rule of law for equal opportunities.
